Spray Foams These foams are often made of polyurethane, and can burn readily if heated. They will not stay intact in the penetration, and can fall away after burning.

Drywall Joint Compound Joint compound is not a suitable material to seal penetrations. Joint compound can be part of a fire resistance rated wall if it is part of the assembly. The material has no F or T rating in accordance with the standard test methods.
