Spray Foams – These foams are often made of polyurethane, and can burn readily if heated. They will not stay intact in the penetration, and can fall away after burning.
Drywall Joint Compound – Joint compound is not a suitable material to seal penetrations. Joint compound can be part of a fire resistance rated wall if it is part of the assembly. The material has no F or T rating in accordance with the standard test methods.
