Automatic Sprinkler Inspection, Testing & Maintenance

Introduction

Inspection, Testing & Maintenance

This course addresses the inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements for automatic sprinkler systems. It has been said that any system is only as good as the last time it was tested or used.

That may be true, but statistics show that any mechanical system that is properly used and maintained tends to operate for a longer period of time in its intended capacity.  In the same vein, inspections that are made to identify the needs for care and maintenance aid in the continuing proper operation of a component by finding items that lead to later problems.

And if a system is not in constant use, testing that system for readiness also identifies potential operational problems.

Fire protection systems are emergency systems and not in constant use.  To try to ensure their readiness when the emergency arises, a program for inspection, testing and maintaining these systems must be established.
