Automatic Sprinkler Inspection, Testing & Maintenance

Strainers, filters, orifices

Most sprinkler systems have small strainers, filters, or orifices of some type, usually in the trim piping. These require inspection at least once every five years.

Many systems that are in service and use natural static sources(Rivers and ponds, etc.) for water supply use basket strainers, for example.  In the bottom of the retard chamber, there is a restricted orifice in the drain line.  There may be a number of different items like this, depending on the system.
