Automatic Sprinkler Inspection, Testing & Maintenance

Overview

NFPA 25 Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
The inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements contained in NFPA 25 are minimum requirements. They are intended to provide a reasonable degree of protection for life and property. There are situations where the life safety hazard, property value, or mission continuity concerns may be such that the authority having jurisdiction will decide to impose more stringent inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements.

In addition to automatic sprinkler systems, NFPA 25 also applies to:

standpipe and hose systems fixed water spray systems private fire hydrants water mist systems foam water and foam injected sprinkler systems fire pumps private fire service mains water storage tanks valves

NFPA 25 does not apply to the design adequacy of a fire protection system. In other words, there is no requirement in NFPA 25 that requires verification of the system design in a given building, or protecting a specific occupancy.
