Fire Behavior- Introduction to Fire Suppression

There are a number of elements that can remove or dilute the oxygen supply to the fire. The most common is probably carbon dioxide. Water from a sprinkler system or hose stream can conceivably smother a fire, but it would take almost total immersion for water to do this.
