Room Design Method

Corridors

The room design method can be applied to the corridors also, as in an apartment building.  When the corridor is protected by a single line...which is the case most of the time... of sprinklers, and the area under consideration has protected openings as previously discussed, only the sprinklers in the corridor, to a maximum five (5) sprinklersHowever, if extended coverage sprinklers are used, then all of the sprinklers in a line 75-feet long have to be calculated. have to be calculated.  If the corridor has less than five (5) sprinklers, only those in the corridor will be calculated. This rule is applicable to all occupancy hazard levelsAll openings have to be protected for the application of this rule..

Remember, the corridor can have unprotected openings in a light hazard occupancy.  In this case also, a maximum five (5) sprinklersHowever, if extended coverage sprinklers are used, then all of the sprinklers in a line 75-feet long have to be calculated. have to be calculated.
