Introduction to Clean Agents

Clean Agent System Operation Sequence and Component Sub-Systems

Operational Sequence

Upon detection of a fire in the protected space, the detection sub-system will initiate alarms to start the evacuation of the space, provide notification to the building owner, other building occupants and the fire department, secure the ventilation inside the space and start the time delay. The detection sub-system may also shut down power to electrical components inside the space. The time delay between the detection of the fire and actual discharge of the agent is provided to allow for evacuation of the protected space.

This is done to avoid interference with the evacuation by the agent discharge. Even though the agents are not toxic at the design concentrations utilized, this avoids unnecessary exposure of the space's occupants to the agent.

Once the time delay has ended, the agent storage cylinders are actuated and the agent is discharged into the protected space.
