Battery Charging & Generator Fuel

Secondary power supplies must remain in service at all times.

Batteries used in a secondary power supply must be automatically charged. Full charging must be completed in 48 hours or less. If the charging process fails, the system must initiate a trouble signal A trouble signal indicates a fault or problem in a monitored circuit or device, in this case the battery charger..

If a generator is used, the fuel should be stored outdoors underground. Gravity feed should not be used between the fuel tank and the generator. Enough fuel should be stored to provide for six months of testing, plus the required capacity of the secondary power, 24 hours. If a reliable means of refilling the fuel tank is available within two hours, then the fuel tank must be sufficient to hold at least 12 hours of fuel.
