Classification Basics

What Is A Classified Area?

Case Study

You are working on a building that will be used for constructing wooden cabinets for kitchens and similar applications. The building includes office and showroom areas; storage areas for lumber, plywood, and other raw materials; manufacturing areas with saws, planers, shapers, and other woodworking machinery; and areas for fine sanding and spray finishing. The products used for finishing include stains and paints that are flammable liquids. Heating is provided by natural gas unit heaters, furnaces, and rooftop units. All the woodworking equipment is connected to a central dust collection system, and specific housekeeping procedures have been established to ensure that sawdust will not accumulate.
