Supervisory Initiating Devices

Other Supervision

Critical Processes

Any function in the facility may be monitored by the building fire alarm system as long as it does not interfere with the operation of the fire alarm system. In some cases the operation of a boiler or other critical equipment which may be operating during nonworking hours is supervised.

For example, shutdown of the boiler shown in the photo initiates a supervisory signal that is transmitted to an alarm company. On receipt of the signal the alarm company calls a representative of the facility who can then take action to correct the problem.
