Authorities and Requirements

Insurance Services Office (ISO)

The ISO provides inspection and "rating" services to insurance industries. They will visit a facility and develop a "COPE" report for the purposes of judging the property.

Each letter of the acronym COPE represents the words that make up the general areas the insurance company examines and rates for suitability. Information on "Construction, Occupancy, Protection, and Exposure" is what COPE reports develop, and the insurance company applies credits and debits to the rating from the COPE report in order to develop a cost for the insurance they will provide.
