Central Station Fire Alarm Systems

Signals

Records and Reporting

The central station has to keep all records of signal activity for a period of one year. Testing and maintenanceIf full central station service is contracted, the test records have to be filled out and filed by central station personnel, or the appropriate contractor that provides testing service under contract to the central station service company. records must be kept for at least two years – the current year and one year previous.

When the AHJ requires the recordsThese records will become important in a fire event. Fire investigators may use the time stamp and signal indications to reconstruct the time line of a fire, for instance. It is for this reason that the alarm company will typically keep records of signals and test activity for long periods of time., they have to be made available. They must be in a form that the AHJ can use and understand.
