Combination Systems

Speakers

Speakers that are an integral part of the fire alarm system can be used for non-fire, non-emergency purposes as long as one of the following conditions is met by building management:

It may be located in the lobby of a building, but will be the place that the emergency responders will be able to access the fire alarm notification speaker system, and other critical building controls. It is not the intent of this to allow the maintenance department have the voice system installed in their basement space, which is occupied "most of the day" by mechanics who peripherally understand how the system works. established in the building, and the fire command center has to be constantly manned by trained personnel. The other alternative has to include the following: Speakers, amplifiers and all of the other equipment that operates the fire alarm voice system has to be nonaccessible or resistant to tampering or misadjustment.  Monitoring for integrity of all wiring and components can't be arranged to be by-passed when the system is used for non-emergency purposes. The authority having jurisdiction has to accept the use of the fire alarm notification system for non-emergency use in all cases.
