Fire Alarm Plans and Code Requirements

Construction Elements

Dimensions

Fire alarm systems have to be designed to fit into the building. The proper determination of the building’s size is critical, as are all of the separate spaces that the building may contain.

The length and width of every room and spaceThe size is important when determining the criteria for installation. But small rooms, or rooms with openings into them, may not require any additional detection or notification. In almost every case, each room or space is specific, and must be considered on its own merit., as well as the height of the space, must be accurately determined. The output of the notification appliances, as well as the spacing of all detection devices, depends on proper size determination. If a building is not accurately depicted upon installation, sound and light output levels may be incorrect.

Also, proper coverage of detection devices may not be achieved given incorrect dimensions.
