NEC Requirements

Overview

Other NEC Articles

NEC Article 760, Fire Alarm Systems, also refers to other NEC articles that apply to wiring that may be part of a fire alarm system. Article 225 Article 225 covers the requirements for outside branch circuits and feeders run in or between buildings, structures, or poles, including those circuits that are run underground.
Article 300 This article covers wiring methods for all wiring installations, unless modified by other articles of the NEC.
Section 300-22 This section covers the requirements for wiring in ducts, plenums, and other air handling spaces.
Article 725 This article covers the wiring methods for remote-control, signaling, and power-limited circuits that are not an integral part of a device or appliance. An example is the wiring for elevator recall and control circuits that do not receive their operating power from the fire alarm system. These circuits may be power-limited, which is typical, but can also be non-power limited.
Article 800 This article covers the requirements for communication circuits. These circuits are generally low voltage and are typicvally considered to be power limited. As communication circuits, they can also be installed to connect one building to another.
